Who Can Apply
Xalta Academy is currently open to applicants based in Uganda. We welcome anyone with basic computer literacy, a high school education, and the discipline to commit to an intensive 12-week programme. No prior coding experience is required.
What We Look For
We don't test for coding knowledge. We assess for readiness: can you communicate clearly in English, manage your time, follow instructions, and commit to at least 20 hours per week? If yes, you're a strong candidate.
How to Apply
Click any "Apply Now" button on this page to submit your information. Our admissions team at support@xalta.academy will respond within 48 hours to schedule a short orientation call.
Cohort Model
Students start together and progress together. We do not support joining a cohort mid-way or taking breaks. If you leave, you must re-enroll in a future cohort from the beginning.
Upfront Payment
The full programme fee is UGX 1,000,000. Pay upfront and receive a 2% discount, bringing the total to UGX 980,000. Upfront students also qualify for a 7-day money-back guarantee (processed after tax deductions and admin costs).
Installment Plan
Alternatively, pay UGX 125,000 bi-weekly across the 12-week programme. No discount applies to the installment plan.
Late Payments
If an installment is missed, you receive a 7-day grace period with written warnings. If the payment remains unresolved, your enrollment is terminated and you must start fresh with a new cohort. Our Finance Officer may extend the grace period with documented valid reasons.
Refund Policy
Refunds are only available for upfront-payment students within 7 days of enrollment. After 7 days, no refunds are issued. Installment students do not qualify for refunds.
Life at Xalta is structured, remote, and intensely collaborative. Think of it less like a classroom and more like joining a professional development team — because that's exactly how we've designed it.
Weekly Schedule
5 hours of live contact time per week: teaching sessions, live demos, code reviews, and team standups. Plus a minimum of 15 hours of independent work: project building, research, assignments, and peer collaboration. This is a hard requirement, not a suggestion.
How You'll Work
From day one you use professional tools: Git and GitHub for version control, Slack or Teams for communication, task boards for sprint planning. Code reviews, pull requests, and async communication are daily routines. When you graduate, there is no adjustment period for remote work — you've already been doing it.
Culture & Expectations
We hold every student to a professional standard. Attendance is mandatory. Assignments have deadlines. Misbehaviour or persistent underperformance can result in dismissal — not as punishment, but to protect the cohort's learning environment. Top performers are rewarded with bonuses and may be invited to work on real paying projects before the programme ends.
The 12-week Web Development programme is designed to take you from foundational skills to hire-ready confidence through real, incremental project work.
Weeks 1–4: Foundations
HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, accessibility best practices, SEO fundamentals, and JavaScript essentials. You ship your first live website by the end of week 3.
Weeks 5–8: Interactive Development
Advanced JavaScript, React fundamentals, component architecture, API integration, and state management. You build production-quality interactive applications with version control enforced throughout.
Weeks 9–12: Professional Readiness
Full-stack integration with Node.js, database fundamentals, deployment workflows, AI-augmented development tools, and client project work. You graduate with a portfolio of deployed projects, professional Git history, and experience working in a team sprint environment.
Throughout
AI tools are integrated at every stage — not as a crutch, but as an accelerator. You must understand and be able to explain every line you ship. Professional skills (communication, debugging methodology, presenting work, managing expectations) are woven into every week.
Xalta doesn't just train developers — we prepare professionals who can be put on real tasks from day one.
What "Hire-Ready" Means
A Xalta graduate can: build and deploy a complete project, use version control professionally, follow code standards, build with accessibility in mind, debug using a repeatable method, and communicate progress and blockers clearly. They can present their work and handle feedback like a junior developer in a real environment.
Industry Network
Through our partnerships with Google, Microsoft, and a growing network of Ugandan and international tech companies, graduates gain direct exposure to hiring managers, mentors, and project opportunities.
Earning During the Programme
Top-performing students may be involved in real paying projects before the programme ends. This is based on measurable criteria: consistency, quality of submissions, teamwork, and reliability.
When you graduate from Xalta, you don't just leave with skills — you join a growing community of developers across Uganda who are building careers in tech.
Our alumni network connects you with fellow graduates, mentors, and industry professionals for job referrals, project collaboration, and continuous learning. We host regular meetups, share job opportunities, and maintain an active community where alumni support each other's growth.
As Xalta grows, so does the strength of this network. Early graduates are founding members of a community that will shape Uganda's tech industry for years to come.
Do I need coding experience to join?
No. We assume zero coding knowledge. You should have basic computer skills (typing, browsing, installing software) and be able to communicate in English.
Is the programme fully online?
Yes, 100% remote. We deliver the programme online because we believe you should learn the way you will work. All sessions, projects, and collaboration happen through professional remote tools.
How many hours per week is required?
At least 20 hours: 5 hours of live sessions plus a minimum of 15 hours of independent project work and research. This is a hard requirement.
Can I join from outside Uganda?
Not currently. Xalta is only enrolling students based in Uganda at this time. We plan to expand in the future.
What happens if I miss payments?
You receive a 7-day grace period. If the payment isn't resolved, your enrollment is terminated and you would need to start again with a new cohort.
What if I need to take a break?
We don't support breaks. This is a cohort programme — students move together. If you leave, you must re-enroll in a future cohort from the beginning.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. Graduates receive a Xalta Academy certificate of completion. More importantly, you graduate with a professional portfolio, Git history, and demonstrable skills that speak for themselves.
Can I really earn money during the programme?
Yes. Top-performing students are connected with real freelance and client projects starting from mid-programme. Earning is based on your performance, not guaranteed.
